Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is a safe and equitable learning environment where we all feel safe to take risks, share our ideas, and learn from each other. We embrace our mistakes, believe they and we are marvelous, and see them as a form of growth.
We are a group of learners who collaborate with one another, reflect on our ideas, and persevere to achieve our goals.
As a group of English Learners, we embrace our differences and connect with each other as an inclusive class family. We value each and everyone that comes into our classroom, understanding the unique qualities we all bring along with us.
My Project
My students greatly benefit and enjoy interacting with lessons on anchor charts and white boards throughout the day. Being able to stand and manipulate language rather than hearing and seeing it taught to them has helped my students immensely. Unfortunately, the last few years we have been working with a less than ideal easel and non-magnetic white board. While these resources did their job, they were not enough for my special group of learners.
My students deserve to have an easel that will not fall apart during a lesson.
The opportunity that this all purpose mobile teaching easel will give to my class of over 50% English Learners is significant. In order to make sense of language, my students need to be able to not only hear it and see it, but also to manipulate it.
This project will reach my multi-sensory learners, auditory, kinesthetic, and visual learners alike, and allow my students to share ideas with their peers. Since it is mobile, I anticipate us utilizing it throughout our day for reading and writing workshops and mini lessons as well as during our math calendar, number talks, and lesson times.
