A Full Tummy=Full Engagement. Fourth Graders Need Healthy Snacks!
Help me give my students healthy snacks that they can eat during the day such as pretzels, animal crackers, peanut butter crackers and cheese crackers.
I teach fourth grade at a Title I school located in Central Florida. I teach math and science to a total of 42 students. Our students come from a variety of social, behavioral and emotional backgrounds.
I'm extremely proud of all of my students and will do whatever it takes to ensure that each of them have everything they need to be successful.
Some of the only hot meals some of these students have are the lunchrs they eat at school. My students complain of being hungry in the morning, mid-day and afternoon. It is hard to concentrate on math and science when your stomach is grumbling and your hungry.
My Project
"Mrs. Noblin, do you have something I can snack on?" This question is asked every single day. I teach at a high poverty school, 98% of my students are eligible for free/reduced price lunches. Sometimes my students miss breakfast, and even miss dinner the previous night. This project will provide my 42 fourth grade math/science students with a healthy snack to eat when they need it during the day.
It is hard for students to focus on classroom work when their stomachs are grumbling from not having dinner the previous night or breakfast that morning.
These snacks will be used for those cases in which a student is hungry during class, and needs an extra boost from a quick snack to make it through the day.
Without your help, my students would not have these snack choices available to them. Thank you!
