Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a teacher in New York City at a second year school, Urban Assembly for Media Studies, specializing in the study of media and technology. I will be teaching Living Environment, the first year the school will be offering a regents science course. My course load will include four labs/classes with 100 students. The school will need to purchase a great deal of equipment and textbooks which does not leave a lot of room to beautify or organize the room. One of the things I wanted to do was make the laboratory/classroom as visual and tactile as possible. I thought that a good beginning for this goal would be to purchase an aquarium for the room. The aquarium will add to a good study environment, and it will give the students an opportunity to learn about and care for the fish. I plan to use the aquarium as starting point to study ecology and visit great ecological sites the City has to offer. This will be a start to a promising year for these regent students!
