As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Even in the face of these challenges, my students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics by fantastic teachers in a caring and safe learning environment.
My Project
These materials will enable my students to begin the year with a fresh, clean start! They need the Storage Sacks to help keep their materials at their fingertips and to keep their supplies organized. Our current storage sacks are several years old and have many tears in them. Some of them are even being held together with duct tape.
We need the dry-erase boards to use when practicing our handwriting, spelling words and grammar.
We currently have an extremely old set of boards that are so over used that the primary lines, which are so important to new learners, aren't visible on all of them.
The primary pencils are a much need school supply that some may take for granted. For students that don't always have the luxury of shopping for school supplies, knowing they can get a new pencil from their teacher can be the difference between a good day and a bad one.
