My students need support materials to help them overcome the struggles of autism like visual cue cards and sensory balls.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come for more than education! They come for peer social experiences, meals, and positive adult interactions, too! School is a safe and caring place for many who don't have that experience at home. We pride ourselves on keeping our population steady. Our school is located in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood and is historically part of this community. The students who attend are from generations of families that have attended the same school. I often hear, "My grandmother was in Jane Doe's class." or "My mom went here, too!"
We are working hard to keep our students moving in the right direction.
We moved from an "F' school to a "C" school. Our population is diverse, so diverse we teach Dual-Language classes and Spanish is as special just like physical education. Many don't have the ability to travel or orbit the internet. We, as their only source of information, must provide a vast amount of information and experiences.
My Project
It's Autism Awareness month and I want the Extra Large Blank Puzzle pieces to display their individual talents and creativity around our campus. The other resources are much needed supplements to their success in daily performance for both academics and behavior. Sensory things like the Pull, Stretch & Squeeze Stress Balls help them keep calm and focus. The Caterpillar Token Board helps them stay on task with consistent positive reinforcements and the Picture Exchange Communication System Behavior Key-ring will provide visual communication supports to directives.
Students on the spectrum deserve every opportunity to be successful and these resources will allow and encourage positive performance.
