This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Did you ever have a class pet? Well, fish may not be the warm fuzzy pets you had in mind, but they are exactly what my students need in order to study a complete ecosystem.
My 4th grade class is made up of minority students from a wide variety of economic backgrounds who are easily motivated and eager to learn.
Our elementary school is known for the creative teaching styles of our teachers which have helped our school obtain the state's highest rating based on test scores.
My Project
An aquarium will be of great benefit not only to my 23 students but to the other 75 students in my grade level. It will allow them to observe the habits of living organisms and explore their interactions with one another
and with their environment. An aquarium will provide a platform for scientific inquiry as well as endless possibilities for research projects.
With the new school year approaching, I'll be adding science to my list of teaching duties.
As I've been studying and preparing, I've realized I will not have the use of some materials which the state requires that my students have access to. Your donation to my project will help fulfill a major need. An aquarium will make it possible to teach a wide variety of science objectives to a deserving group of students who will not soon forget the experiences it will provide.
