Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher. I teach 1st and 2nd grade students who have special needs. The disabilities range from ADHD to Autism. They are happy to come to school each and every day. Most of the students come from low income households and struggle to come to school with the supplies needed for the school day. Having these supplies at school would mean the world to these kids. They would be thrilled to sit on a pillow and color with the new crayons.
My Project
These supplies will give each child the opportunity to learn in the most comfortable environment possible. It will allow each child to have their own sets of crayons without scrambling around looking for a specific color or borrowing from another child. It would allow the child who can’t sit still at their desk to be able to lay on the floor on a pillow or recline in a chair on the floor. It will allow them different opportunities to learn. It would also allow them enough pencils to have for the year. It would make a child happy for sure.
