This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Are you ready, Tigers?" is what I always ask my 3rd-grade reading and writing students every day. They always answer with a resounding "Yes!" as they enter my class.
My school has a high number of students who were affected by the recent hurricanes, Irma and Maria, as we have just started welcoming students coming from homes that were affected by Hurricane Maria.
This resulted in basic amenities that they need to prosper being not readily available to them.
Even though we have adapt to such a wide range of learning needs, we know that all children will learn if given the right tools and technology (and teachers who care). As their teacher, my main objective is to enhance and improve their young learning experiences.
My Project
Our third-grade class is in need of computer speakers-one pair for the main workstation and another for the smart board. Currently, the students can barely hear what is presented on the smart board because the workstation's speakers are not powerful. This sometimes causes them to be easily distracted and not follow the lesson at hand.
We also need copier paper, now that we have our own color printer for our classroom.
The students are printing every day and we have already run out of paper in the third week of 2018!
Also, we would really love to have extra dry erase markers and lapboards, so we can work math problems without wasting paper. The lapboards are convenient, saves space and mistakes can easily be erased This would help a lot for our math classes!
