Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
For the past 20 years I have been teaching English and Social Studies grades 5-8 to a diverse group of students. However, this year is very special because I have been given the opportunity to not only teach students but also become a learning lab for teachers in our school as well. As a teacher and instructional coach, I work with students and teachers in all content areas, science, math, social studies, and language arts, within grades 5-8. I will be using these tables with my students to model good teaching practices to 41 teachers in my building and offer professional development throughout the year. My work with students and teachers alike is an amazing opportunity to reach all students in the building and make a significant difference beyond the walls of my own classroom. Students throughout the building use my learning space as an innovative area that encourages inquiry, feedback, and dynamic learning.
My Project
All students will benefit from these tables because I will be using them to model how to encourage student collaboration and inquiry. This work will beneficial for authentic teaching and will allow my students and teachers to have a dynamic classroom where students can brainstorm together when writing on the tables.
Whiteboard table tops allow my students to collaborate on them through brainstorming, problem-solving, and inquiry in an engaging and dynamic setting.
Not only are they used by students in our building, but all Math, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts teachers in the building will also use these tables when I am applying and modeling best teaching practices.
