We have a diverse group of students here. My 2nd grade class of 27 students has a wide range of cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, socio-economic status, reading level, athletic ability, personality, and the list goes on. I want my students to be able to recognize that we are each unique in our own way and that's a good thing! I want to encourage them to celebrate their differences. I know that each student has something wonderful to share with their peers and I strive to create a classroom environment that boosts their confidence and gives them opportunities to embrace and share their differences.
Each of my students come to school with diverse backgrounds, experiences, worries, and interests. As a lower grade teacher I want to instill a love of reading in each of my students. Half the battle with young readers is finding something that they want to read.
If students can find books that interest them and make them excited about reading it makes a world of difference.
By providing a diverse collection of classroom library books for my students I can meet their diverse needs and interests. Help me to provide a classroom library that is inclusive to all students. Let's read!
