This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Each morning my students are waiting for me at the door with bright smiles on their faces. My goal is to have all of my students become "kindergarten ready" by the end of the school year.
My pre-kindergarten students are excited and eager to come to school and demonstrate what they have learned and remembered from the previous days of school.
Even though they all come from low-income homes, they do not let that stop them from wanting to learn and grow.
My Project
My classroom is filled with bright and amazing African American children. But when they go to the library area in our classroom, they see books that have characters that they can not always relate to.
Most of the time, they see characters that do not look like them.
But this does not hinder their love for reading. Giving them access to more books with diversity and inclusion would be the cherry on top!
I think having a library with books that have characters that they can relate to would take their love for reading to a new level.
