Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege to teach fourth grade at a diverse public school. I teach at a Title I school in Nevada in which a high percentage of my students come from bilingual homes and receive free or reduced-price lunch. My school serves a low-income population in which most students are English Language Learners. A portion of these students only receives exposure to English in school. They work with great enthusiasm and effort to improve their English and progress toward a mastery of the language.
My students face tough obstacles in their lives but arrive at school smiling and ready to learn.
They love their teachers. Our school truly is a community and a family. We each do our part as a student and teacher. We work side by side with one mission in mind: our students’ success.
My Project
The Tablets would support our academic needs for our students by allowing them the opportunity to participate in engaging activities on a daily basis. These writing tablets will give our students a unique and memorable chance to learn phonics (sight words, letter names & sound recognition, blending phonemes and practice writing conventions. We can also implement mastering math facts, number recognition and writing in an engaging and challenging way! Our students display a deep sense of curiosity which leads to memorable learning experiences.
With this new technology we would be able to eliminate white boards and white board makers making our classroom less wasteful.
This will help with accommodating and facilitating learning for our most needed children. Thank You!
