Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm a Digital Arts teacher here at John O'Connell High School in the Mission District of San Francisco. My students need your help. There are over 70 students taking digital art every day at our school and not the right cameras for them to use! ...what's up. We need some digital cameras to learn about photography, lighting, photo manipulation, design, and composition in our classes.
We have been creatively trying to work around the lack of cameras:
1. Students using camera cell phones, but that's no good. The resolution is usually so low and no photography features to learn on a phone. Not to mention the temptation of sending text messages in class is way too close for the students...and they are not even supposed to have them in class anyway!
2. A couple of students have their own cameras they can use, but that does not help the other 68 kids that can't afford them. Most of our students come from low-income households and can't afford cameras.
The only solution is getting cameras. This proposal, Part 1, is for one digital camera for the students to share. It would be a great start for our expanding program and the students would be able to learn about digital art the right way while keeping their cell phones away! Part 2 and Part 3 proposals are for additional cameras for the classes.
Thank you for your time and if you choose to donate for the camera it would be greatly appreciated and used everyday by the students.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
