My students need learning toys such as magnetic building blocks and materials such as kinetic sand and soothing musical CDs to help them have a successful day in PreK.
The students in our classroom come from diverse backgrounds and several of the families do not speak English as their first language. They range in age from 3 years old to 5 years old. The students come from a very low-income area and all of the students qualify for free lunch. A number of the students in the class come from single parent homes and/or are being raised by their grandparents or other family members.
The preschoolers in our class come to school excited and ready to learn and experience new things.
There are typically developing students as well as students who receive special education services in the classroom. The families of the students in our classroom love their children and want the absolute best for them.
My Project
My students are requesting materials that will help them have an amazing day in PreK. We are requesting materials such as puzzles, learning toys and materials that will help us increase our critical thinking skills.
We are also working on our social skills and self-regulation of our emotions; the social-emotional materials will help my students learn and practice the skills that they will be able to learn while using the materials that we are requesting.
I am requesting soothing musical CDs to help set a calming environment for the students. There is something about music that can set the tone of the room. The fidgets and fine motor materials that are being requested can and will be used to help the students focus and/or refocus when they are in need of some extra help self-regulating.

The students in my room will greatly benefit from the materials requested academically, socially, and emotionally. I strongly believe that the materials requested will be beneficial for the students in all areas.
The magnetic and other building materials and interlocking snowflake discs will help the students to hone in on and improve upon their critical thinking skills.
