This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds, but all are eager, creative, open-minded, dedicated and hardworking dancers. I have the privilege of teaching dance to every single student in our school once a week! My students come to class excited and eager to learn new dance styles and skills. Because our program has grown to all grades and classes I am in need of supplies to teach students of all grade levels and abilities, including some students who use wheelchairs.

For many of my students, this is their first and only exposure to dance!

They love to dance and often excitedly show me dances and movements they have learned and created. They are open-minded about and excited for this new experience, and I am inspired to work with them each day.

Because of Covid, our class has looked different in the past year and a half, but my students are resilient and very excited to be back in our dance studio this year! We are working on dancing and creating safely!

My Project

My students are wonderful and open minded dancers who always try their best and are excited to learn new things. We were gifted a professional dance floor called Marley a couple years ago which requires special equipment and cleaners to keep it clean. Prior to Covid I purchased a steam mop to steam clean and sanitize the floor which I use daily, in addition to sweeping between classes.

In light of Covid and having multiple classes come through my room every day, we are looking for a robot mop to help us sanitize the floors multiple times a day.

My dancers take off their sneakers upon entering the dance studio to help reduce dirt and germs on our floors, but we are trying to be extra safe and cautious to keep everyone healthy and dancing! This robot mop will help keep our floors clean and sanitized between classes.
