My students come from many different backgrounds and bring a variety of life experience to the classroom. The diversity in our classroom creates opportunities for students to share knowledge and teach each other new ways to look at problems and find solutions. My students work together well most of the time, but like most young people, they are still learning how their words and actions affect others.
Creating a culture of kindness in the classroom is a top priority for my students!
My Project
The book, "Create a Culture of Kindness in Middle School: 48 Character-Building Lessons to Foster Respect and Prevent Bullying," will provide my students and me a blueprint to follow as we cultivate kindness in the classroom. The markers and poster paper will be used to make kindness contracts that all students will contribute to, and that will be posted in the classroom to remind everyone of our expectations for kind behaviors. We will also use these materials to make motivational posters as well as cards to be used in role play games.
My students value academic success, but we need to focus on building our character and developing positive relationships too!
