This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a preschool room in a low-income school district, my students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I strive to provide them with a fun, interactive, safe, and meaningful learning environment. As their teacher, I try to instill the importance of communicating/listening to one another, being a good citizen and leader, and using trauma-informed techniques to aide them in their social-emotional development.
My students have various learning styles, backgrounds and needs.
Due to being located in an inner-city, funding is extremely hard to come by, and in order to provide my students with the best learning experiences I can give them, I typically find ways to procure these items and experiences out of pocket or by any means I can, which is where DonorsChoose.org comes in.
My Project
This project is for a Cricut machine and accessories for the classroom. The Cricut will be used to make visuals and sensory paths around the classroom to support the needs of students.
Having a machine will allow to create visuals tailored specifically for students as they need them and creating a sensory path that will allow students to get their sensory needs met without having to leave the classroom and missing out on learning time.
Additionally, a Cricut machine is a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly option to have in the classroom - by using vinyl and existing materials to create specific visuals and graphic aids it uses less paper, lamination, and other costly materials that consistently need replaced due to wear and tear of daily classroom and student use.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
