Students learn in a variety of ways. Hands-on games and activities give them a fun and interactive way to practice math standards.
In my classroom, we talk, laugh, discuss, learn, and share every day.
I want every student to feel like they are an important part of our community. We build each other up by helping and complimenting the positive attributes of those around us. The students in my classroom are fun, energetic six and seven-year-old children who are excited about learning and find joy in discovering new things about the world around them. They are so eager to ask questions and think about new information and experiences.
I work at a K-5, Title I school, with students who are in various programs such STARS (Skills Training and Autism Related Services), Gifted and Talented, and who also receive math and reading services. We are also a school with a K-5 Dual Language program where students learn in both Spanish and English. Many of our students attend our school for these programs and have another home school.
My request is for a Cricut machine to use in my classroom for several purposes. The Cricut can be used to create individualized flash cards, writing prompts, bulletin boards and creative extension projects. I would use it to print numbers and alphabet letters in a variety of sizes and materials. I would also create images to match to letters by beginning, middle, or ending sounds. These letters and pictures would be used by my beginning readers for hands-on literacy games and activities. At this point, after teaching for 6 years, I still trace or print and cut things by hand. While I plan on continuing with these practices as needed, the use of a Cricut machine would greatly decrease the amount of time I spend prepping and allow me to focus on teaching.
By funding this project you are allowing me to put more time into teaching and less time into prepping.
You are helping me to provide my students with hands-on learning. Thanks in advance for considering my project.
