Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of my students are from low income households and work extremely hard to maintain the necessary grades to be active members of the Honor’s Club at our school. Not only are they a part of the Honor’s Club but many of them are active in sports, band, or other extracurricular activities. For many of them this trip is a first time experience as well as a reward for all the hard work and dedication these young individuals put in throughout the school year. They work extremely hard to be positive role models in our community which makes them deserving of this and much more.
My Project
Hi I am a Jr High School teacher as well as the Honor’s Club Advisor at my school. Each year our students raise monies to fund their end of year trip to Universal Studios Hollywood for 40-45 Honor’s students.
This year I would like to implement a project where students use technology and their creativity to produce student made crafts to sell in order to raise monies for their trip as well as learning an important life lesson that “through hard work, and perseverance all things are possible.”
Since a majority of my students are English learners who Iove hands on learning, I’d like to incorporate art projects into the classroom. I would like for my students to have the opportunity to experience how to bring their creative ideas to life in order to meet their goals.
In order to do so my students need of 3 Cricut machines and materials to get their projects started. With school starting next week I would hope to get this project funded and ready to begin as soon as possible so that they have the whole school year to raise the necessary funds for their trip.
Thank you in advance for helping us make this project possible.
