Help me give my students a Cricut Maker + Everything bundle and a Cricut EasyPress. The everything bundle has vinyl materials for projects, and the EasyPress will help students with iron-on projects.
Our students live in a rural area, and seventy-one percent or more are eligible for free or reduced lunches. There are few jobs available in the county so students have to leave to find work. Those who stay are working at jobs that pay minimum wage at best. I want to offer them an opportunity to explore the idea of building their own crafting business to either supplement their paycheck or to provide a paycheck for them
This project will provide a Cricut Maker Everything bundle and a Cricut heat press so students can explore designing and creating their own crafts.
I also want to add the dimension of starting a business using crafting as the basis.
Students need to understand the pros and cons of owning their own business and explore all the legal and tax issues involved. Part of this project will include developing a business model for a home crafting business. Students will determine product costs and pricing among other issues.
My Project
This project is aimed specifically at our JAG class. My students live in an area with little opportunity for jobs. The ones available don't pay very well, and I want to provide my students with ideas for ways to supplement their income initially but then to think about creating a business using technology such as the Cricut Maker and EasyPress.
A Cricut Maker + Everything Bundle and EasyPress will allow students to explore crafting.
As students develop crafting skills, they will learn about the pros and cons of creating their own business. Students will learn to design and create items, then research the cost of materials for each item, and finally, determine a selling price for each item that includes a profit margin.
The everything bundle that comes with the Cricut Maker will give students materials and tools to work with during the learning process. Students will look at costs of materials and research selling costs of items and work on a business plan to start their own business. Students will gain design concepts, math skills as related to a business, and an introduction to owning their business.
