I teach at a Title I school in Michigan where 90 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though life outside of school is sometimes difficult, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They come to school ready to engage with learning and grow their imaginations. They want to be in school so that one day they can achieve their dreams.
Every day I am inspired to work harder as I watch my students persevere to learn and achieve their goals.
I love watching them light up as they learn and master new material and concepts. That is the best part of my job!
My Project
Comfortable seating in our classroom library will help to establish an inviting and engaging atmosphere. The seating in this area will be utilized by students daily during independent reading time and provide them with multiple options.
This seating will provide an inviting community space in our classroom, as well as a place for students to engage in independent and partner reading.
The best way for students to become better readers is for them to feel comfortable and relaxed as they are reading. Adding pillows, rockers, and wiggle seats in our classroom library will provide my students with choices and create a comfortable and inviting space for students to read, learn, and grow!
