Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a wonderful group of young learners that come from disadvantaged backgrounds. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, and a third of the students speak a language other than English at home. These students have limited experiences outside the classroom walls. They have limited exposure to current academic materials and often utilize used and donated supplies. They also have limited access to cultural and extra-curricular activities. My students are eager learners, just waiting for the right tools to succeed. Please help an amazing group of learners soar to reach their endless possibilities!
My Project
My students need a carpet to use for meeting spaces. This beautiful rug is adorned with upper and lower case letters accompanied by a corresponding picture for each one. My students will not only have a comfy place to sit but also a great place to practice their letters and sounds. They can use kinesthetic activities to reinforce what they have learned through games and learning activities.
This beautiful, new rug will define the meeting place in the classroom.
My kindergarteners will have a place to gather for morning meeting, storytime, circle time, and group activities. It will be a great place for singing, dancing, stretching, resting, and gathering together. Special group activities, from crafts to puppet shows, will happen in this special place.
Overall, this rug will change the way my students learn. They will have a safe, clean, and welcoming place to learn and grow!
