This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to school with a variety of personal obstacles and challenges, but every day they put their best foot forward and show up ready to learn! The majority of my students come from high poverty backgrounds, and our school is Title I and C.E.P. funded. In my classroom, I have a high amount of English Language Learners (students whose second language is English), as well as students with ADHD, ODD, Autism, and Sensory Processing Disorder. My students are very energetic and active, and are always seeking out ways to make the learning process more engaging, fluid, and fun!
My Project
Our classroom is in need of several soft, welcoming rugs! My students love to spread out around the room to read and work together. Our classroom is tile, which isn't comfortable or conducive for student floor work. Additionally, in the wintertime our room gets quite cold, and so does the floor! Adding some soft, vibrant rugs to our classroom would make the environment much better suited to meet my students needs, as well as make the classroom a more welcoming, lively, and enjoyable place for them to learn and grow! Thank you in advance for your support! We greatly appreciate it!
