This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 20 Pre-Kindergarten students in an inner-city Baltimore Elementary School. For many of my students, Pre-Kindergarten is their first exposure to formal education and they are so excited to learn and engage with their peers and teachers each day.
My 4-year old students are curious and full of creative energy that is expressed in various ways throughout the day to include playing, drawing, singing & dancing, and communicating with their peers during whole and small group instruction.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and used to instruct and develop the whole child in an age-appropriate way.
My Project
The library center is the cornerstone of my Pre-K classroom. I try to create a print-rich area filled with child friendly books to build early literacy skills and demonstrate the importance of reading.
I want to add inviting and cozy furniture to our library center to support my students' love of reading.
I wish to create a space where children can relax and read their favorite books. I also want to encourage my students to use our library center and cozy area as a way to decompress, calm down and recover from the sensory overload of the classroom. The cozy corner can also provide children with a quiet place to learn.
