Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking and excited about reading and math. They love helping each other learn and are particularly excited about books, and hands-on math materials. This year we are learning about the weather, community helpers, the environment and authorship. We try to connect our learning between various subjects.

My students love any chance they get to explore independently.

Many of my students speak Spanish and English or are learning English and we make sure that students' home languages are always valued in our class.

My Project

My students are just emerging as independent readers. They are extremely excited to be able to tell stories to themselves, and learn about the world through books.

My students love going to the the library to read, having a cozy place to sit will make them want to stay and read for even longer.

Beginning to read independently is one of most important steps for students to build their reading fluency.

Right now our library has some pillows but nowhere that is extremely nice to sit. The students love to go there but they quickly become restless and uncomfortable. Lets make reading even more fun!
