My Students

My students are an amazing group of first graders that love to learn and are eager to please. They deserve every opportunity that can be provided to learn academic and social skills. The school that we attend has a high poverty rate where 85% of the students receive free or reduced meals. The students come from a variety of backgrounds and they have a wide range of abilities and strengths. Expectations are set high so that they will be prepared for what is expected of them in the future. My goal is to do anything possible to set them up for success. Thank you for seeing the potential that my students have and helping to provide them with every tool that they deserve to overcome the daily academic, social/emotional and behavioral challenges that they face!

My Project

A cozy reading couch will invite students to dive into a good book! My students love to read and choose reading spots that will meet their needs at any given time. Sometimes they like to work with partners and other times they just want a nice quiet place to read by themselves.

This comfy couch will become a favorite place in our classroom and motivate my students to settle in and enjoy a good book!

I can't wait to see students reading to themselves and also helping each other practice their reading strategies so that they can become better readers.
