My students need flexible work areas within the classroom. Each student needs the ability to choose the environment and setting that best meets his or her learning style.
The students of my class are creative, unique, and filled with personality. Each day, they find ways to inject our community with individuality. Community is at the forefront of our experience. We try to keep in mind the ways in which we impact one another, both in positive and negative ways. Students also work to express their feelings and emotions.
Students learn to advocate for themselves and solve problems.
As they grow into young adults, the ability to take on challenging situations will help them greatly. Each day is fun. Each day is filled with laughter. Each day is an opportunity to grow.
My Project
The ability to choose your own learning spot is a rare encounter in classrooms. Each child has unique physical needs. If given he opportunity to choose seating, students can to maximize comfort, focus, and learning. The items that I am requesting would enable students to have options for flexible seating. The couch and chair combination would enable students to read a book, and meet in groups to discuss their ideas. The individual chairs would allow students to spread out and create separation as they get lost in their work.
With these pieces of furniture, students will be able to evaluate the learning environment that is best for them.
The couch and chairs will also help to create a learning environment of warmth.
