My Students

Middle school can be tough. Everyone remembers the social awkwardness and growing academic expectations during these few years.

My students, in addition to the growing pains of middle school, are also navigating a new language and culture.

My students are English Language Learners from around the world. For some students, English is their third language. They face their challenges with enthusiasm, curiosity and hard-work. They are eager to learn and share their stories. As a class, we focus on projects that promote critical thinking and student voice.

My Project

I am requesting an area rug in order to create a comfortable spot in our classroom for our students. My students will use this rug to get lost in a good book, create their own stories and work together to plan their next research project.

Our classroom is active and curious - we love doing hands on activities, creating art projects and researching new science topics.

These projects help our students engage with school subjects and develop their language skills at the same time.

This rug will be a gathering spot for our class and will encourage us to spend quality time diving into our reading and research every day.
