My students are the most resilient 5th graders from a Title I school in Oregon. They receive 100% free breakfast and lunch each day. Many come from high-poverty homes where resources are limited. Meeting their educational, physical, social, and emotional needs is crucial this school year!
My 5th grade Oregon students are tough, creative, so very hardworking, and resilient!
This year has definitely been a challenge in many ways. Students are working hard and doing their best, but still face many challenges. We want to make sure their needs are being met in every way!
I am hopeful that getting a classroom chair for the front of our room will help with forming a community in class! Students will be able to sit in the chair with a good book, I will use the chair for our Read Alouds, guests can use it as well! We are hoping to create community every chance we can!
Thank you for this opportunity to support my students in this hectic 2021-2022 school year! With your help, I will have the resources to help my students academically, emotionally, and socially during this New Year!
My Project
I am hopeful that by having a cozy chair in the classroom that we gather around for Read Aloud and Class Meetings, my Oregon 5th graders will be able to form more of a strong community!
I have a challenging class this year, and after being out of school for so long with COVID-19, we are still continuing to establish a classroom community.
This chair will be for me to gather students around, but will also be used for students to utilize for their Accelerated Reader independent time. The students will LOVE having a cozy spot to plop down and read a good book in!
