A Cozy Carpet for Our Classroom Community

Help me give my students a cozy classroom rug, a small vacuum to help keep it clean and a lamp for softer lighting.

My Project

My students spend so much time at school and in our classroom, and gathering on the carpet together is where a large portion of that time is spent. Our current classroom rug has seen better days before it was handed down to me from the 2 teachers prior. It is stained, has holes, and is not in the best condition.

Help me give my students a space that is cozy, comfortable, and inviting where students can connect as a school family.

This rug will give my students a visual for where to sit to circle up for our morning circles for class community, and give a well-defined space for each student during whole group lessons, partner work and story time! These well-defined boundaries help students feel secure by providing structure and organization. I do have students that could use one additional layer of security to feel comfortable, confident and connected and would benefit from a weighted vest. The lamp will create different lighting effects to help create a warm environment as well.

My classroom is their home away from home, so I try to keep it cozy, comfortable and inviting, yet an optimal environment for learning. Your support will foster the strengthening of our classroom community as we engage in partner work, social-emotional learning, and whole-group lessons. A floor rug can greatly benefit my students by creating a comfortable, inviting, and functional learning environment.
