Hooray! This project is fully funded
Have you ever been the new kid on the block? Did you ever feel inferior to your peers who called you names? Acceptance and tolerance, as well as, being respectful and showing empathy are important characteristics we should be instilling in our children that create good citizenship.
My 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students attend a high poverty school and our community is hit with a high unemployment rate.
When children are faced with hard times at home, they are more prone to hide their feelings by bullying their peers. I see my students as loving individuals and wanting to do their best; however, the situations in our world today causes hardships on families, especially the children. But with appropriate information and guidance in school, they will learn ways deal with their feelings other than bullying their peers.
Our project is aimed at helping students develop good citizenship skills that will carry on with them in to adulthood. "A Computer for Guidance, Part 1" will guide my students through ways of managing different social issues that create problems in his or her life, such as bullying, domestic issues, and poverty. My students will do research on socials issues that affect children nation wide and see that they are not alone. We will also use the webcam to communicate with other across our country, so they can see that even though there is diversity, we are still the same.
Please help my students to be better citizens by learning about others and the importance of acceptance.
With your help, we can develop lifelong good citizens with kind and loving hearts for others.
