This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in an urban, low-income/high poverty school my students experience a scarcity of resources in and out of school. They are excited to learn, but face obstacles not found in better funded school districts. Things like crayons, pencils, and paper are appreciated but not expected.
Technology in our classroom has helped enhance my students learning experience.
My students want to learn but need the resources to do so. This project will guarantee each of them access to technology at the same time.
My Project
I teach at a high-risk school in North Philly and would like to put more Chromebook computers in my classroom. We currently have 15 in our classroom and only need 4 more for each student to have their own. This would allow me to fully integrate each student in a technology-based classroom. Many of my students have become more engaged and enthusiastic about school as I have introduced more technology into the classroom and I'm making a final push to ensure each student can access technology throughout the day and begin to increase their tech competency as they a fully immersed in a tech classroom.
