This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach wonderful, smart, educated third graders in a low-income public school in St. Louis, MO. I have students who enjoy reading and love to dive into some great, interesting, and exciting books. Many of my students love to read on their own and love to sit in comfy spots to allow them to indulge in such a great book.
Comfortable seating allows students to become more engaged in their reading.
Once you find the right book only thing you're missing is that comfy spot. That is one thing that my students are missing in our classroom. With your help my students are able to dive deep into their books within no time.
My Project
Comfortable seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During our independent reading time students are allowed to sit in different places and seats that are comfortable for them. Giving students the option to sit somewhere that is comfortable for them allows them to become more engaged in their reading. They are able to focus on their readings without distracting other students around them.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them.
The comfy seats that I have chosen for my students will give them the opportunity to want to engage in more books, knowing they will have a nice place to sit. The beanbag chairs will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how comfy seating can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
