Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine being an immigrant in this country, yet having the ability to proudly share American culture with others. You are finally able to share knowledge of this new country you now call home with other children across the globe! This is exactly what my students will have the opportunity to do!
I have the most amazing talented inner-city immigrant children that are always willing to learn and grow as every day is a new chance that they did not have before.
They have encountered problems and situations simply to achieve the American Dream. Some have even walked to this country for a better life! Our school services K-8 and we have a high bilingual population.Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now achieve amazing heights at our school . My students have come from all around the world, from many different and often difficult situations. They hold the American Dream, but need the tools to make them successful.
My Project
We are in desperate need of a comfy and welcoming library. Knowing that our resources are old and scarce, we need a place to call our home. Therefore, we would love some flexible seating, a new carpet, and some new books that peak our interest.
We don't have the greatest access to books as many of our local libraries have closed, a new library with some great come seating can make reading an adventure for our class.
Many of the books we have are old and really don't peak our interest, but these new books will add some oomph to our current book situation. Hey, and who doesn't like to cuddle up with a great book.
