This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach the best group of 3rd graders in Grand Rapids! They are sweet, kind and caring. They love to explore and learn new things each day when they come to school. Each one of them adds a special part to our loving classroom family. I have 30 amazing kids in my class, and all of them receive free school lunch. Most of their families speak primarily Spanish at home. Their love for learning is evident when it is the end of the day and they want to keep learning!

My Project

Our school just built a beautiful new building! We have beautiful new furniture and brightly decorated walls, but there is no where to gather as a classroom family to read books, have discussions, or work with small groups. Our classroom needs a comfy rug to sit on, to learn on, and a place to work with partners. In our classroom we like to have a community circle to discuss events in our lives, events in the world, problems we are facing or celebrations. Having a rug will give us that place to meet to deepen our learning and our family community.
