Help me give my students with dyslexia and reading difficulties stools, benches, and other comfy seating that will allow them to relax and enjoy a good book.
We are a fully public elementary school with an extremely unique population of children as we serve students with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia. This means that many students who come to our school are struggling to read or cannot read at all. We service these children by offering a different type of education, a multi-sensory, whole body approach, and intensive reading interventions. This is our third year in operation! The success of the first year brings tears to our parents' and teachers' eyes!
After years of struggling with reading, these children are finally reading!
My Project
This project will add seating and color to our media center! The media center has been vacant for the past 5 years and has recently been painted by a Scout Troop and volunteers. The troop members also rounded up hundreds of books to provide our students with a variety of reading options! The only thing missing is seating!
Once this project is completed, students will have the opportunity to get comfy on a new bench or stool and enjoy a good book!
The goal of this project is to build a space that motivates students to read, learn, and ultimately foster a love of reading.
