I am so excited to start my first year teaching this August. These students already hold a special place in my heart and I cannot wait to welcome them into my classroom. More than half of the students at my school come from low-income households. I want to create a home away from home where each student feels safe and comfortable. It is my ultimate goal to inspire my students to be life-long learners in and outside the classroom.
I believe that my students deserve the best and I want to give them the best.
Giving them a classroom carpet will create a space where they can learn and grow as a family. In addition, this will allow my students to have flexible seating options where they can learn in the environment that fits their individual needs.
My Project
As a first year teacher I am starting from scratch. I want to provide a bright and inviting classroom where students are excited to come everyday. Having a class carpet will keep students engaged during lessons and give them a place to spread out during literacy centers.
Giving students flexible seating is beneficial because it allows the learner to choose what works best for them.
Getting students out of their desk and on the carpet allows them to focus their energy on the lesson. When students feel more comfortable they are more connected to the lesson and more connected to one another.
