This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a school that has 100% free breakfast and lunch. My students come from low-income families that live in subsidized housing, which means the parents' rent is based on their income.
Although the majority of my students come from single-family homes and live in a high poverty area, their present situation does not dictate their future.
Regardless of their income, my students come to school ready to learn.
My students are resilient. They overcome obstacles that kids should not have to endure. I am so proud of every one of my students.
My Project
These rugs will be used in our classroom during small group instruction. My students are deserving of a space where they love to go and spend some time learning and creating.
These rugs will allow for a homey feel while in school.
I am trying to create a comfortable and inviting place for my students to sit and learn.
Everybody loves the feel of a soft rug underneath their feet. These rugs will allow for a calming and quiet place for students to do their best work. We all love the way a nice rug can brighten up a room that everyone wants to spend time in.
