My Students

Our setting is a place that serves special education students whose needs just aren't met in a traditional school setting. Each student in my class has a wide variety of interests and abilities. We focus on building their life skills and on building positive relationships.

My room is a safe place where these very unique kids know it's okay to make mistakes.

We work really hard at fostering relationships with adults and with peers. The success they feel here is critical to helping them reach their full potential.

My Project

With my kids having such unique needs, it is super important that they are able to be comfortable in the classroom. The rugs will allow them to interact with each other and use learning materials through more relaxed opportunities.

The rugs will help make the classroom feel like a warm environment.

Most of my students need more space to move around than is offered with traditional seating. This will give them space to learn and be successful!

These rugs will help create separate working spaces. Students will be able to request working on a specific rug instead of at their desks. This will allow their voices to be heard and respected, which continues to make our environment warm and welcoming.
