My students need a classroom rug for morning meetings, reading time, and circle time. We currently do not have a rug, and students have to sit on a tile floor.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We need a comfortable place to sit! In my classroom a majority of the day is spent sitting on the floor. I would love to have a rug that all the students can sit on comfortably to work on activities.
I teach 17 first grade students.
My students are fun-loving kids who like to learn. I have a small rug in my classroom library that the students love to sit on, but we need a rug large enough for the entire class to sit on. We are in a low income area, with approximately 75% of our children on free and reduced lunch. We also have a school-wide Title I program.
My Project
My students are excited about coming to school and are excited about learning. We come together for carpet time to share and to learn as a community. We use our rug during story time, calendar time, group learning time, independent reading, centers, and sharing time. This new carpet will allow every student to have their own spot, making sure everyone feels a part of the group.
I am so excited about this new school year and work hard to make my classroom new for each group of students.
This rug will allow students to feel a part of our classroom community.
