My Students

I teach in a low income/high poverty area. Most of my students come from broken homes, and many have had drugs impact their lives. My goal is to make school a safe place for them, someplace where they come and know they are safe and that someone has put their best interest first.

I try to create hands-on projects that the students will enjoy.

I find that my students learn best that way. Hands-on projects help to hold my students' interests better and help them focus.

My Project

Who doesn’, too. The materials that I am asking for will not only give my students a comfortable place to read and complete their assignments but will also make my room more inviting. Students will feel more at home on the chairs and have a better sense of belonging. This sense of belonging will help encourage student engagement.

The flexible seating will also help students who have a hard time focusing because the furniture encourages small movements to help keep the students’ minds on their work.

The flexible furniture also helps with peer relationships. The pillows and chairs are great for small groups working together. The students can choose to work as partners side by side or move to a lowered table to complete their assignments together, increasing student collaboration.
