My freshmen students are a unique group of learners and leaders that possess a wide array of abilities, knowledge, and goals. My students enjoy cooperative learning in a comfortable environment that enables them to express their ideas, comments, and opinions. Many of my students like to sit down, lay down, stand up, kneel, and posture themselves in a variety of different positions when learning in class.
My students are early college high school students who will be first generation college students and are motivated to break the academic glass ceiling in their family history.
They are passionate about Geography and History and enjoy engaging in critical thinking and problem solving activities to develop their own perspectives on a variety of topics. They are eager learners and will be our future leaders of tomorrow.
In traditional school buildings classrooms can be cramped, plastered with white walls, and rectangular desk. This arrangement is not optimal to provide our scholars with the best possible environment in which to learn.
A comfortable classroom makes for comfortable learning.
Students will be allowed to utilize flexible seating options each school day. These options, indoor rugs and saucer chairs, will not only allow our scholars to be comfortable, but will also serve as an easier means to configure the classroom for collaborative learning and teamwork.
The goal is to equip our students with the skills they need to solve tomorrorow's problems. Flexible seating can have a positive affect on my student's social, emotional, and academic well being.
