Help me give my students colorful supplies such as sticky notes, pencils, and colored paper to help them STOP and JOT during Reading and Writing Workshops, as well as during group work.
My students are the most caring, unique, and energetic students you will meet. All of my students are diagnosed with different disabilities, and many of them are English Language Learners (ELL) as well. They come from low-income families and receive free school breakfast and lunch. Despite all this, they are filled with curiosity and are always eager to learn. The students in my class love to engage in fun activities, especially those that are hands-on.
My Project
Some of the supplies in our classroom have been depleted and need to be replenished. The supplies I am requesting will not only make learning a success, but will also help keep our classroom organized.
The sticky notes will be used during Reading & Writing Workshops; when students want to hold onto their thinking, they will use a sticky note to "Stop & Jot" their thoughts.
Similarly, in Writing Workshop, the sticky notes would be used during the planning and revising stages of the writing process. Students can draft out their writing/illustrations using the sticky notes, as well as adding onto their writing during revisions. Students will use the pens, pencils, and highlighters to write out their responses and/or annotate important information. The colored paper and card stock will allow me to print differentiated activities for each group, as well as print corresponding color-coded task cards. These color-coded groups will help the students remain organized.
