Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a self-contained special education class that has students with mild to moderate disabilities, including autism, ADHD, speech and language, emotional, learning, and intellectual disabilities. The majority of my students are also English Language Learners. They are hardworking and, despite their challenges, have a desire to learn! Each student is a unique individual who brings joy to our classroom. Our school is a Title I school where over 90% of our students receive free or reduced meals. In my classroom each student receives free breakfast and free lunch. Our school is unique as we have a large population experiencing homelessness.
My students love experiencing new things and having hands on experiences!
My students actively participate in the school community and are enjoying learning.
My Project
My students amaze me with their ability to show their knowledge in drawings and colors! Everyday we use markers, crayons, and colored pencils in our classroom! Not only do we utilize these supplies for art projects, they are used daily for Language Arts and Math!
Simply using a marker to write has allowed my students to be excited to learn!
The aprons will allow us to participate in more hands on, messy projects without having to worry about ruining clothing! My students truly enjoy having new supplies, and many of them do not have access to art supplies at home. These supplies will allow us to start off our year with new supplies!
