My students need a bright colorful carpet so they can have a place for their imaginations to flow and friendships to grow.

"Learning is loud" is a quote that I did not want to be used to describe my classroom, However, my kindergarten students have totally changed my mindset. It now brings me great joy as I hear them squirming with excitement to answer questions or to be a team leader. Their infectious laughs during group time sends the warmth of love throughout the classroom. I never have to ask for a volunteer or helper as they are all always ready and eager to give a hand.
I do not teach these students , we teach each other.
They show me daily regardless of your circumstances you can do great things with the right attitude. They show me to appreciate the small things. A sticker means a whole lot in these four walls. They taught me how to try even when I feel I can not. Some don't have the ability to read yet but jump at the opportunity to try. These children show everyone around them that it is not the hand of cards you are dealt, but how you play them that matters..
It is amazing how something as simple as a clean and bright carpet can set the atmosphere for a great learning space. It is in that central location where students learn new things, make new friends, laugh, sing, and travel to different places via a book or their minds.
It has been said, "That in life sometimes all you need is a little splash of color." I think that holds true in the classroom.
My stained and well-worn carpet is beginning to create the exact opposite of a perfect learning space. "I don't want to sit there, There's hole here" are student's comments that have become all too familiar in the classroom. When it comes to the attention of five year olds "The Big Bad Wolf" finds it hard to compete with the never-ending loose threads or the inviting depths within the holes on our carpet. Carpet stains have become the start of disputes and precious learning time is being lost
My kindergartners spend most of their time gathering on the carpets. Spending five to ten minutes dealing with carpet issues each time shortens my time to read books, reward students, sing fun songs, or teach life-long skill. Therefore, a colorful carpet is essential in the primary classroom. A colorful carpet is the start to colorful thinking and beautiful, bright, colorful life.
