My students need a color printer in the art room so they can print reference/collage images, digital artworks created on Photoshop, and worksheets and drawing guides.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at the Bronx Early College Academy (BECA) are learning that they are artists. Students in grades 6-12 can take art classes, and we offer after school clubs to all. For many students, the art class they take at BECA is the first in years, if not their first ever. Yet each student has creative strengths and a story to tell, and our art program aims to amplify student voices and enable them to tell their stories. In the middle school students focus on expressive artmaking, while high schoolers are challenged to use artistic conventions and processes to respond to contemporary artists and issues.
BECA students are eager to get their hands dirty and challenge themselves in the art room.
Despite this, students face obstacles to meeting their art making goals: limited time in the art room, limited materials, lack of experience making art, not to mention larger socioeconomic issues impacting students in all aspects of their lives. The art program at BECA seeks to overcome these obstacles and enable students to imagine new futures for themselves so they can be the truest versions of themselves.
My Project
A printer is an essential resource to any students, and particularly to art students. Currently, there are very few printers available to students at our school, and only one color printer. This vital resource will be dedicated to art students.
Having a printer dedicated to the arts will ensure students have one less hurdle to achieving their artistic goals.
Having a printer will help us in numerous ways: creating posters to advertise clubs and events in the art department; printing student digital artwork; and providing students with images to draw from and use in collages to name a few. Additionally, this printer will print off worksheets and step-by-step guides for students to help them create better artwork.
