Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are middle school students that come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds that are high poverty, primarily Spanish speaking families.
Most of our students' families have been born and raised in this area, they have a deep and meaningful history in our school district.
Our students deserve the best education we can off, and sometimes that means going outside for help for items the district cannot provide.
Our students come from a diverse background with limited opportunities to experience what others in more affluent districts are provided.
My Project
These paper towels and facial tissues will allow my students not only to clean up after experiments in class, but will also allow them to have soft tissues to practice good hygiene in class. Since my students are economically disadvantaged with many siblings in school, the parents cannot afford to supply each of their children all of the supplies on their school supply list.
By supplying these items through Donorschoose, it is taking a financial burden off of many parents who cannot otherwise afford to purchase these items in addition to the needed basic school supplies.
It is a sad thing to see students cry because they cannot bring in what is being asked of them.
