Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I work with are in a low-income area, with few resources readily provided for them. Many of my students live in the local homeless shelters because of their unfortunate family situations. They want to learn and do well but unfortunately, sometimes their circumstances do not allow for it. Many of my students are new to the country and are ELL students. They come from families where English is not often spoken. For many of my students, their first experience in America and first experience with STEM is in my class.
My students are very special and unique because they not only have to learn to adapt to living in a new country, but they also need to figure out how to be educated in an American school.
They have to adapt to living in shelters until their families can afford a proper home.
My Project
All students deserve to have a clean, healthy and nutritious classroom to learn in and my students are no different!! My students may need it even more since many of them do not have these things at home. Some of my students live in overcrowded and dirty shelters and do not have the proper nutrition needed to stay healthy and grow properly.
Having a classroom that is clean with chlorox products like wipes, hand sanitizers and room fresheners will allow the students to learn in a room that is healthy for them to breathe in .
Having nutritious snacks that they can eat each day will help my students to not feel hungry and be able to focus on their education and not on worrying about if they will eat that day.
