Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are a diverse mix of English Language Learners that are predominately Latino. They are eager to learn and motivated with hands-on experiences. They are a compassionate community that enjoys collaborative learning. We are part of an urban public school with high needs and 95% free lunch. Many of the parents work 2-3 jobs. Our students are low performing but always want to try new things. They are a sweet group that really want to make a difference in their school community.

My Project

A clean and safe learning environment is critical during a pandemic. Inspiring students to write is also important in 3rd grade. This project allows for our classroom community to continue to learn and grow as writers and also keep our classroom COVID safe. We will use the small journals as gratitude journals. Writing and sharing what we are grateful for on a daily basis.

We will use the other notebooks for Writing projects as we begin to explore opinion writing as well as writing about our reading.

Markers will be used for posters that express what we are working on and as a resource for independent work time.

The amount of cleaning that is done on a daily basis is time consuming! Having the needed supplies to clean up at the end of the day will ensure a safe, clean environment for the next day. Masks and hand sanitizer is used by all students countless times. Having additional supplies on hand makes it easy to stay safe and remain in class.
