My students need a market stand and puppet theatre to offer fun and engaging material to our dramatic play learning center, to enhance their learning through play.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are eager and excited about learning! They are hard working and continue to excel in whatever is placed in front of them. By the end of the school year, my goal is for all of my students to have a solid foundation of learning and for 100% of my students to be prepared for Kindergarten.
My students are 4 and 5 years old.
They are bright, energetic, fun and there's never a dull moment in class with them. My students love coming to school and are eager to learn new skills. My students make teaching fun and they are a joy to have in our classroom.
My Project
Learning through play is a whole-child approach to education which included learning through free choice centers as well as learning through guided play. In our classroom our students enjoy both and we would like to continue to provide them with the opportunity to learn through play with developmentally appropriate material and goals in mind.
We need a Pretend and Play Market and fruit and vegetable baskets in our dramatic play area to learn about purchasing and eating healthy foods.
We also need a puppet theatre to use when we are retelling stories such as our favorite "The Three Little Pigs." The alphabet and number locks will provide our young learners with hours of play in both the math and literacy centers, allowing students to match upper case and lower case letters and numbers. Adding the building blocks and the interactive number line to our Math center will keep our students engaged while learning how to build numbers as well as learning sequencing. Having these fund and engaging materials in our classroom will provide our students with hours of hands on learning time and tons of opportunities to engage in play with peers and teachers. This will show our students that it is possible to learn while playing and take the unnecessary stress off of their time at school.
